How Old Are You?

My kids and husband know my answer to this question is “39.” I frequently tease my husband that he acts like a child, but, actually, I’m pleased that he does.  It keeps his mind young.

How old do you feel?  Many of us use age as an excuse for what ails us, and I implore you to stop doing this immediately!  As the saying goes, age is a state of mind, and the more you keep your mind feeling healthy, positive, and energized, your age won’t matter.

September is Healthy Aging Month.  Dan Buettner, author of the best-selling book, The Blue Zones, offers several tips for a healthy longer life.  Among them are eating a mostly plant-based diet, staying active, embracing family and friendships while celebrating your elders, laughing, gardening, taking time to relax, give back to others and drink plenty of water!

These are similar tips and suggestions I espouse to my clients and are also the themes of many of my corporate wellness presentations. Don’t they simply make common sense?

If you are thinking of trying to improve your health, lifestyle and vitality, try some of what Buettner espouses.  And practice some of my favorite tips:

  • Eat real food.  Watch the junk food.  Watch the processed foods.
  • Learn to read labels (we can help teach you!). Eat foods with less than 5 ingredients.
  • Rest, relax, take a vacation.  Read a book, watch a movie, do stitchery!
  • MOVE every day, and have a good workout most days.
  • Drink clean, fresh water – a lot of it.

Give us a call if you’d like some help thinking younger, smarter and healthier!

To Your Vitality!
