Tecumseh, the Great American Warrior

Fall seems to be the season where we take stock on many things. The year is coming to an end, we begin to cocoon inside more, and I think we become introspective. Because of the Thanksgiving season, we often begin to think about the year we’ve spent, and things we are grateful and thankful for.
I came across a great quote from the famous American Indian warrior, Tecumseh, that states, “When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength.”
My yoga instructor along with my friendly chiropractor, Dr. Jill Slutak, concur with this awakening, saying we should take a minute or so to stretch our bodies so they can gear up for the day’s movement.
Oftentimes, we wake up in the morning, and the first things we think of are all the tasks we have to complete that day. Ugh…. Or we may dwell on how badly we slept – thinking of all those things. And then we jump out of bed, ready to roll! What a way to waken.
Rather, try this for a few days. Just lay in bed for a minute, and like Tecumseh, give thanks for the day ahead and your role in that day. Glory in the fact that you have hours in front of you to greet each task with vim and vigor! And then stretch that body a little so it, too, can prepare to confront the day with a glorious attitude.
Practice this gratitude and thankfulness as we approach the season of thanks and glad tidings. Your mind and your body will both thank YOU!
To Your Vitality!
