We talked last week of brain boosting activities! This week, I’ll suggest some foods that can help boost your brain so your memory is clear, your thoughts are strong, and your brain functions like a champ!
Blueberries, strawberries. Most berries are memory food, but these two are superstars! The polyphenols in berries help brain cells communicate with each other! Better function!
Spinach. This green has anti-inflammatory compounds that help slow brain aging.
Avocados. A delicious fruit to eat every day, avocados have fatty acids that are anti-inflammatory and increase brain power.
Fish. A great brain food! Nutritionist Jonny Bowden reports over 60 percent of the weight of our brain is from fat, and it’s the same fat found in fish. The healthy Omega-3 fats zip right to our cell membranes, helping the neurotransmitters in our brains, and can alleviate depression, ADHD, and other brain disorders.
Egg yolks. Skip the plain egg whites and eat your yolks! Egg yolks are one of the best sources of B vitamin choline, which is a building block for memory, learning and thinking.
Red wine. Rich in resveratrol, which helps to improve memory, mood and our capacity for learning. Caveat here – a glass or two, not the entire bottle.
