Things to Say Every Day

I did my master’s degree work in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.  I’ve always loved the “Zags” and like graduates at many schools, I support Gonzaga, so I get their annual report.

The recent report posted an excerpt from their commencement keynote speaker, Fr. James, Martin, and I loved it!  I want to share it with you, because it speaks to the heart of self-affirmation, which is something I frequently suggest to my clients.

Father Martin provided graduates with “Seven Things to Say Every Day.”  These are:  I love you; Thank you; Thank you God; Forgive me; Congratulations; Why not; and Yes.

Isn’t this terrific advice? These things could be so easy to say as you go about your daily life, and can be health promoting if you do.  And, as a holistic nutritionist, I would add one more thing to say: “I ate healthfully today!”  Or at least, “I tried to make healthful choices today.”

Telling yourself these great things can make your brain begin to believe them and your body will follow along.  These statements can make you feel good!  And, they can help improve your stress levels and increase your feel-good brain chemicals.

So, give it a try, and say these eight things every day!  The holiday season is a great time to begin. We often think more about others during this time of year than we do ourselves.

To Your Vitality!

P.S.  Another great thing to do for your brain health is to continually learn new things.  If you want to know more about the exceptional Gonzaga organizational leadership online master’s program, visit their website.  You can be a Zag, too!
