It’s March Madness, Baby!

If you follow sports, ya gotta love Dickie V.  He can be outrageous and opinionated, and very vocal with his “baby” comments, but I feel he has a good heart.  My family had an opportunity to meet Dick Vitale once at Notre Dame, and he was gracious and a good sport.

I did my master’s degree work in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.  I’ve always loved the “Zags” and they usually do pretty well in the NCAA basketball championship.  I hope Dickie V calls one of their games!

In a recent keynote speech at Gonzaga’s commencement, Fr. James Martin addressed self-affirmation, and suggested “Seven Things to Say Every Day.”  I challenge you to try to use these every day for this week of Lent.

These Seven Things are:

  • I love you
  • Thank you
  • Thank you, God
  • Forgive me
  • Congratulations
  • Why not
  • Yes

Aren’t these terrific?  Affirmations can be health promoting and good for you!  I often have my clients use affirmations to help them through a health challenge.  Telling yourself these great things can make your brain begin to believe them and your body will follow along.  These statements can make you, and those around you, feel good!  And, they can help improve your stress levels and increase your feel-good brain chemicals.

So, give it a try, and say these Seven Things each day. Like Dickie V would say, "You Got This, Baby!"

To Your Vitality!

And…. Go Zags!
