Live Life…Don’t Simply Record It.

Not too long ago on one of our beautiful weekends, my husband and I spent the weekend in Annapolis.  What a great location and wonderful place to spend some time!  The water!  The sun!  The food!  And the people!

The people made me wonder.  So many individuals – of all ages – were not so much enjoying themselves as they were taking photos – lots of photos – mostly selfies – in front of things, like a huge yacht, eating crab cakes, drinking an Orange Slushie.

How often do you take cell phone pictures – of yourself or others?  I recently read a report of a concern that we are missing out on life because we are so concerned with capturing it. Granted, we want to remember where we were and what we did, but shouldn’t we be living our experiences more than just taking selfies of them?

Think about your cell phone camera activity.  In today’s highly stressed world, the need to be in constant contact by taking and posting photos can lead to anxiety, lower brain activity, sleeplessness and even plain ‘ole unhappiness.  Take a break!  Enjoy your nature!  Converse with your friends rather than photograph them!  Observe with your eyes your surroundings and experience them!

Leave the phone at home once in awhile and truly relish your environment.  You’ll be happier and will remember your vacation or trip all the more!

To Your Vitality!
