Years ago, while working on my leadership degree from Gonzaga, I had a business ethics class, heavy on philosophy. While I admit to being a nerd, philosophy was deep…really deep. One of my textbooks was If Aristotle Ran General Motors. It was a really good book, and I discovered the author, Dr. Tom Morris, was a noted and much loved professor at Notre Dame! Morris wrote another great read called Philosophy for Dummies, which honestly saved me in this class. Because Dr. Morris helped me get through my philosophy of ethics class, I wrote to him. He shared with me his 7 Cs of Success.
While these tenets were designed to be used in business, they can be used by anyone who is trying to change their eating habits to regain or maintain their vitality!
Here are Morris’ guidelines to what we need to have success. Consider applying them to your life goals.
- A good CHARACTER to guide us and keep us on a proper course.
- A stubborn CONSISTENCY in pursuing our vision.
- A strong CONFIDENCE that we can attain the goal.
- A clear CONCEPTION of what we want, a vivid vision, a goal clearly imagined.
- A focused CONCENTRATION on what it takes to reach the goal.
- An emotional COMMITMENT to the importance of what we are doing.
- A CAPACITY to enjoy the process along the way.
They make sense, right? Perhaps you can tackle one Success C each week as you work toward your goal of regaining your health and vitality! Add an 8th C to your list – Call us if you’d like help moving toward your personal success!
