June 9 is National Get Outdoors Day.  Recent research stresses spending time outside can boost your mood and help you sleep better and more soundly.  This sounds good to me!

I’m not a great outdoors person.  I’m a bookworm, and as such, trend toward indoors.  However, when the warm weather strikes, and the sun is shining, I love to be outside!  Who can resist fresh air, sunshine and the feeling of being outside?!

There are some specific health reasons why it is good to try to enjoy being outside.  Some of these are:

  • Lower blood pressure
  • Healthier bones
  • Increased longevity
  • Brighter outlook
  • Better workouts

Even if your day involves hours spent in an office, the next time you are faced with a task, ask yourself, “Could I do this outside instead?”  If the answer is “yes”, then do it and spend some time with nature!

And, think about doing something outside on June 9 in honor of Get Outdoors Day!  We’d love to hear about it, too.

To Your Vitality!
